Please join us for our first in-person fundraiser in more than three years. This will be an opportunity to celebrate being together as we build our capacity to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors here in Newton.

All events proceeds will benefit Newton at Home, a non-profit, volunteer-driven membership organization
that supports Newtonians aged 60+ to lead rich, active, and healthy lives in their own homes in the city they love.

HANK PHILLIPPI RYAN

Hank Phillippi Ryan is the USA Today bestselling author of 14 psychological thrillers, winning the most prestigious awards in the genre: five Agathas, five Anthonys, and the coveted Mary Higgins Clark Award. She is also on-air investigative reporter for Boston’s WHDH-TV, with 37 EMMYs and dozens more journalism honors. She is a founder of MWA University, host of CRIME TIME on A Mighty Blaze, and co-host of First Chapter Fun and The Back Room. Her newest book is the page-turning standalone thriller The House Guest–a story of psychological manipulation that explores the dark heart of marriage and friendship—it’s Gaslight meets Thelma & Louise. Signed copies of her book will be available for purchase at the event.



KAREN MASTERSON

Kay (Karen) Masterson is co-owner, along with her husband, Kevin, of Johnny's Luncheonette and Cabot's Ice Cream & Restaurant in Newton. She and Kevin formerly owned and operated Nourish Restaurant in Lexington and Big Fresh Café in Framingham. She is passionate about growing food and supporting local producers, having worked with local farmers, fishermen, and other small regional businesses for many years to provide responsibly sourced food at respectful prices. Kay and Kevin purchased Cabot’s Ice Cream & Restaurant this spring and are grateful to be able to keep this iconic Newton business going. She has been recognized for her community-based business efforts with several awards, including most recently recognition by Mass Recycle for the waste reduction strategies she has implemented at Johnny’s. Additionally, during the pandemic winters in 2021 and 2022, Johnny's provided weekly free soup to Newton at Home members.

SUSAN PALEY

Susan Paley is Senior Vice President for Community Relations at The Village Bank. A lifelong Newton resident, Paley has helped a variety of organizations dedicated to the betterment of our local communities. She currently serves as vice president of the board of the Newton Cultural Alliance and is on the boards of Family Access of Newton, Newton Community Development Foundation, Historic Newton, and the Rotary Club of Newton. She also is on the advisory council of the Newton Food Pantry.
