1) "Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat..." May 13, 1940-- Churchill's first speech to Parliament: emboldens his beleaguered countrymen during the darkest days of the Battle of Britain.   

2) "This was their finest hour." June 18, 1940 Churchill calls upon British capacity for courage and determination under the Nazis siege.

3) "Never in the course of human history..." August 20, 1940--Churchill's powerful and moving tribute to the Royal Air Force, the saviors of the British Empire.

Dr. Larry Lowenthal will present and discuss the actual speeches as seen in print and heard on tape.
 

 
Retired from the American Jewish Committee since 2008, Larry taught at Northeastern University in
Boston from 2008-2014: his courses included MODERN ISRAEL; THE IMPACT OF JEWS ON
POPULAR AMERICAN CULTURE: THE HOLLYWOOD FILM, THE BROADWAY MUSICAL,
LITERATURE, POETRY, STAND UP COMEDY, DRAMA AND TELEVISION; and ANTI-SEMITISM IN
AMERICAN FILM, DRAMA AND LITERATURE.
